GUADALAJARA DIRECT FROM TORONTO OR VANCOUVER

Flair Airlines recently announced a winter service direct to Guadalajara from Toronto or Vancouver. (If you live in one of these cities, this is the easiest and most direct option to the wedding)

Depending on your departure point, you may also choose to fly to Toronto first and then take this flight directly into Guadalajara.

DIRECT TO PUERTO VALLARTA + REGIONAL AIRLINE TO GUADALAJARA

If you live near an airport that flies direct to Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco (one of Mexico's most popular Resort Destinations) this is a great option. Many Canadian cities including Ottawa, Toronto, Waterloo, Montreal, Quebec City, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina, Vancouver and Winnipeg offer direct flights to Puerto Vallarta in the winter.

From Puerto Vallarta, take a regional airline; such as VivaAerobus or Volaris to Guadalajara on a quick 45-minute scenic flight for around $100CAD round-trip. You can find options easily on google flights searching PVR - GDL (this ticket will need to be booked separately)

DIRECT TO GUADALAJARA VIA US HUB

Many US hubs offer direct flights to Guadalajara. You may also choose to travel from your point of origin to a US hub that flies direct to Guadalajara.

VIA MADRID

The only direct flight from the European continent to Guadalajara is via Madrid. You may choose to travel from your point of origin to Madrid and then direct to Guadalajara.

DIRECT TO A US HUB OR MEXICO CITY

Fly from your point of origin directly to a US hub that serves Guadalajara, or direct to Mexico City. From Mexico City, fly direct to Guadalajara on a regional flight such as AeroMexico, VivaAerobus or Volaris.

Once you've landed in Guadalajara, we suggest taking transportation directly to the town of Ajijic.

From the airport, it is about a 35 minute drive.

We recommend one of these 2 options to arrive at your hotel in Ajijic directly from the airport:

1) TAXI

This is what we recommend most! Get an official AirportTaxi from the GDL Airport to your hotel in Ajijic. It only costs about $30-40 USD.

Unfortunately Uber is no longer allowed to pick up at the Guadalajara Airport.

TAKING A TAXI IS EASY

1. Locate the taxi stand inside the airport (a small kiosk before exiting the airport)

2. Provide them with the address of your accommodation (have it written on your phone, or piece of paper, to show them in case of a language barrier)

3. Pay the amount indicated

4. Obtain a receipt from the kiosk and proceed outside where you will find multiple taxis, and taxi drivers, waiting to give you a ride.

5. Give them your receipt and show them the address of your accommodation

6. You are on your way!

2) PRIVATE DRIVER

Una vez que hayas aterrizado en Guadalajara, te sugerimos tomar transporte directamente al pueblo de Ajijic.

Desde el aeropuerto, se tarda unos 35 minutos en coche.

Te recomendamos una de estas 2 opciones para llegar a tu hotel en Ajijic directamente desde el aeropuerto:

1) TAXI

¡Esto es lo que más recomendamos! Obtenga un taxi autorizado desde el aeropuerto GDL hasta su hotel en Ajijic. Sólo cuesta entre $500 y $600 pesos mexicanos.

Lamentablemente Uber ya no tiene permitido operar en el Aeropuerto de Guadalajara.

TOMAR UN TAXI ES FÁCIL

1. Ubicar la parada de taxis dentro del aeropuerto (un pequeño quiosco antes de salir del aeropuerto)

2. Bríndales la dirección de su alojamiento

3. Paga el importe indicado

4. Obtenga un recibo en el quiosco y salga del aeropuerto, donde encontrará varios taxis y taxistas esperando para llevarlo.

5. Entregales tu recibo y muéstrales la dirección de tu alojamiento.

6. ¡Estás en camino!

Unless you plan to spend more time in Mexico and travel outside Guadalajara and Ajijic, you do not need to rent a car. Renting cars (as well as driving) in Mexico can be a bit tricky, so we recommend you simply use Taxis or Uber during your entire trip.

As Ajijic is small and as we have a very diverse group of friends with different needs, we have not arranged for a specific hotel to stay at. We recommend booking a place close to the venue/downtown Ajijic but the rest of the Chapala area has some great options as well.
